Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google:
An Analysis of Yahoo’s Struggles

Section 1 and 2 of this paper will provide an overview of the Internet and how a search engine, such as Google, works. Section 3 will provide a history of Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google – three of the competing leading search engine providers. Section 4 will then detail and analyze the Google/Yahoo licensing agreements. Section 5 will describe the opportunities that Yahoo let slip away after the Google/Yahoo agreements. Section 6 will illustrate the potential Yahoo/Microsoft merger that may still occur. Finally, Section 7 will show that Microsoft’s attempt to buy out Yahoo benefited Google and that Yahoo needs to take action.
